Welcome to Devon's Hospital Education Centre

The Hospital Education Centre, formerly the Exeter
Hospital Teaching Service, was established in 1990 to
provide education for children in the Exeter Hospitals.
It is maintained by Devon Local Education Authority.
In April 1998 with Local Government Reorganisation,
the children's ward - Caroline Thorpe, joined the Centre's
provision for young people at North Devon District Hospital
in Barnstaple.
The Centre has its administrative base at the Education
Office, Bradninch Hall, Castle Street, Exeter EX4 3PJ.
Administrative support is provided on a part-time basis
by Mrs Chris Shapcott.
In November 2004 the Hospital Education Centre was registered as a Pupil Referral Unit and subsequently had its first inspection by Ofsted in November 2006.
Teaching takes place at:-
- Bramble Ward, R D & E Hospital (Wonford)
- Caroline Thorpe Ward, North Devon District Hospital,
Barnstaple
